Got out there at about 7am and launched behind the bank. The bank is very soft and there is a ton of vegetation. I walked into about 1 ft deep of water and my foot sunk down about 6in into the mud. Yuuuk!

I paddled up north a bit and went under the bridge checking the pond out as I have never been there before. I threw a crank bait one time and immediately switched it because I caught about a pound of vegetation. I tried to use a buzz bait for a while and didnt get any bites.

I was seeing some bait fish activity. Almost like when the sand bass school on the big lakes but on a much smaller scale.

After not catching anything on the buzz bait I figured a finess 6" wiorm would work good since it kind of floats and can be rigged weedless. Well the finess worm worked. I caught a 15" LMB. He hit it almost as soon as it hit the water. it was like using a top water bait.

I only fished till about 9am. Had lots of bites on my worm but I think it was small sun fish.

Here are some pictures of the lake and the area.

I didnt do great but at least I got to go fishing 5-10 minutes from where I live. Ill probably be back to see if I can get a bigger one. Hopefully at a different time of year the vegetation will thin out a bit too. It was nice meeting Palovik out there. He gave me a hand loading my kayak and we talked about kayaks a bit.

I need to get some frog top water baits too. I bet they would be great there.

The trees and steps in the first picture is the building I work in. Not a bad little place to fish.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Nice write up, Dave. Who says you have to drive a couple of hours to find good yak fishing?

This is practically my back yard! Nice write up Dave. Wish there weren't so many hungry perch in that creek! Let me know next time you hit it up...

I'll try to come and meet you on Sunday, but I have to work. Might be a quick paddle, but a quick paddle is better than no paddle.

Awesome morning. Really nice weather.

After a few hours, I really had them dialed in. Nothing big, but I definitely set up on quite a few fish.

You can check out my report here.
