I have grown to love split-grips. They feel better in my hands and i can butt them against my ribs if needed

Full Grip and must have the small cork section above the reel. Thats is where my left hand is on the hook set.

+1 well said!

Some of the rods you guys like are sooooooooo expensive though! But I guess if I had I'd spend it too. You only go around once don't ya know, unless you believe in reincarnation.

I have both and really do not notice a difference when I am using them. As long as I have a really long handle I am happy. I would never own a pistol grip...

I perfer a solid cork handle over the split handle because I like to heave a bait rather than just cast it. I hve both type and it doesn't bother me. I shy'd away from a cork fore handle above the reel reat because I was "told" it affects the sensitivity of the rod...now wished I had i on some of my rods to help with my hookset and crank'n technique. Split was first introduced as a way to trim the fat on the overall weight of the rod. With today's tech, rods are lighter and this is not as much of issue anymore. SO, if you are trying to make a decision between the two, it still comes down t personal pref.

I have five POWER TACKLE Rods. I agree with your statement. I was fortunate to get four of my rods with full cork. I was unfortunate to have to replace one, which now it a split handle, BUT don't touch any of my PT rods without expect'n a whoop'n!

On bigger rods, I agree. I just bought a 7 3 mH that is tip heavy, might try to add some weights to the butt.

But on smaller rods, I think they are balanced better with the split grip.

For the 'too thick of handles on split grips' comment, for me, it has more to do with the reel that I pair with that rod that the thickness of the handle.

I love my split grips. But for me i really do.t notice because of the way i hold my reel. I think its just a matter of getting used to it. But if someone asked me if i wanted a split or full... ill pick split all day.
