When fishing deep diving crankbaits are you suppose to hit stuff with them or just crank them at the depth that you see bait fish

Dredging the bottom or deflecting off wood.

Dredging the bottom or deflecting off wood. Once I get down to dredging, I personally like to stop reeling and guide the bait along the bottom with a sweeping action with some pauses and twitches and pops really feeling the bottom.. but on other days they seem to only want it crashing through the bottom. But, your best results generally come while making contact with something... hopefully a bigg'un

Not that you can't catch suspended bass on big cranks but you want to be digging mud and climbing through [censored].

If you ain't hitting something with it, you ain't catching fish!
If you wanna add weight, add a tungsten dropshot weight to the split ring that holds the front hook. Don't put it on the line.

you could also wrap lead around the top of your treble hooks... but a 6xd will hit 20-22 with 10lb fluoro so will the manns 20+ ive never thrown a 30+ but it might get a little further but definatly get ready for a workout espically if you arnt throwing it on a low speed reel

Fish where the fish are. Most guys structure fish and are therefore banging baits into cover and getting strikes because the fish are there. If you see them suspended try running something just above thier heads or right through them. Suspended fish will rarely go down after a crankbait underneath them. They will however follow a bait thAt falls through them

Dredging the bottom or deflecting off wood. + 1 got to be stirring stuff up or bounceing off stuff.

I've tried the wieght nose on DDs. I really works to get it down and at the point you casted so you cove more deep area without crank'n to get deep. The trade-off is that if you snagup, theres no puasing to get the bait to float away fron the wood. So, just insure you have a clean bottom on you graph!
"If you've quit learn'n, you might'as well quit fish'n cuz yer not catch'n as many fish as ya should be!"
