Katy Woods would be real close to BPS. I haven't been on Grapevine all summer but I would think Katy Woods would be open. As for places to fish usually just east and north of the island is ok for sandys, and the rock crusher area is usually good. Across the lake from the island and NW is a flats area called Meadomere, (I Think) that you can usually find some. There was a fish kill. I never really heard a good reason other than water temps, maybe a partial turnover????? If you see the Luck of the Irish boat just follow him. grin

Was at GV last Friday. Surface temp was 87F.Launched at Katy Woods no problem. No evidence of fish kill left.Had a slow day.Medowmere was too shallow for the pontoon launch. The ramp levels out and had to pull too far in the water. Good luck I'm going tomorrow afternoon.

If they surface this time of year, it tends to be more on the south side of the lake, from the Katie Woods ramp to the west around the island, further west to Meadowmere. Slabbing, I would try the dropoffs around the island, humps north of the island, creek channel near Murrell park, dropoff at the both of the points that bracket Meadowmere cove. Check the cove just south of island (Mcpherson Slough) for surfacing fish as well. I will see you Saturday at BPS as well

Here are directions to Katie Woods ramp

Take Hwy 121 North to Bass Pro Dr
Take a left (West) on Bass Pro
Drive past Bass Pro Shops and about of a mile, Bass Pro Dr dead ends into Hwy 26/NW Highway
Take a left. You will go about 2 3 miles on Hwy 26 (passing Gaylord Trail and Ruth Wall Dr)
Take a right at the next light (Dooley)
Go down a little over a mile until Dooley dead ends
Take a left. The park road will have a couple of S curves. Go about mile. When you start to see the lake, be looking for park on left hand side.

Is the Texan Trail/Ruth Wall exit off of 121/114 closed now due to the destruction......construction?

I stay off of 114 as much as I can now. I go down 26 (e.g. road in front of BPS) to go out west, because 114 is dangerous and have had it where it takes 25 minutes to go 2 miles numerous times

I'm glad I don't have to travel that way very often. It's on the traffic warnings daily on the news. bang Gotta go out that way this weekend for a wedding and heard 121 will be closed.

I was on the vine today fish werent boiling like they have been in weeks past. The shad were laid up on the bubbles and we tossed the cast net out boated a few shad and dropped straight down below the surface shad and had some luck. We are going to hit it again in the morning I'm hoping to be on the water by 9am we will be in a pontoon cruising from the dam down to scotts landing
