With all the drought going on through out the state of Texas, I was wondering on what shape lake Aquilla is, such as lake level and shape of the boat ramps; and is there anybody fishing it and catch anything there?

The lake is 4.5 ft low. Haven't been out there, but crappie should be good at night under lights.

I fish Aquilla at least once per week, sometimes twice. Crappie are slow, even at night. When they do bite, they are throw backs. Channel catfish and blues are extremely slow. Neither jugs nor trotlines are producing very many fish. Most of what I catch are undersize. Catching a few small sandbass at night under lights, but even they are slow. The water temp is like bath water, and there are more shad coming to the lights at night than I have ever seen in that lake. I'm sure the shad population has something to do with the poor catches at the moment.
Be careful if you are in a boat. You can almost wade across the lake at places. I knocked the skag off my engine a few weeks ago, and I know that lake as well as anybody. The underwater mound on the west side close to snake island is now a large island itself.
