Can anyone make a jig/Spinnerbait skirt collar that doesn't dry up after 2 months of being in a sealed package in a room that is temp/humidity controlled?
Or that doesn't melt after comming within 10' if a plastic worm or jig trailer? Signed: Frustrated!!!!!!!

I hand tie all my skirts. I am trying to get the combo skirt collar/rattle collar on there without 2 or 3 out of 5 splitting when I do!

I've started using the .24 guage copper wire in the craft section. Just wrap twice and twist it like a bread tie. It will last forever and makes jig skirts flare out a little better when wrapped tight.

The black "mickey mouse" rattle collars with the loops on one side hold up much better than the ones with the loops opposite each other. But, even some of the mickey mouse ones have problems with splitting depending on where they came from. We buy ours from the only wholesaler we've found that carries consistently good quality bands.
With spinnerbait bands, the colored ones hold up much better than the plain amber ones. Black ones are just like the mickey mouse bands - depends on where they come from.
We wire wrap all our skirts with 24ga copper wire in addition to the band for added security, plus it does indeed flare the skirt out more than a band alone.

I use the old bread ties or get a section of cat5 cable and strip the outer plastic shell and use the wire inside...

An option you can use if you don't have the wire is to use some of your left over braid. Wrap it a couple of times around the collar and then tie it off.
