His broke last night and he needs a new one. We may be going to bass pro shortly so I need somebody to give me a quick recommendation for him. He would want to keep it under $30

The Tourney specials are good for the money. If you're trying to keep it cheap, BPS are usually good values. Although I think you'll find these days keeping the price under 30 bucks is darn hard to do! Most good bass rods are at least 50-250 bucks.

I know but he is not interested in spending good money.

I am thinking he might like the tourney special in medium or medium heavy so he can still use jigs, crankbaits and some bigger lures with some 10LB line.

If I like the rod enough I may get one myself.

I have a few that are great for the price, but I've had them several years. Never broken one but I'm not hard on rods. I take care with them and don't boat flip large/many fish as some claim to do. The new ones may or may not be just as good quality.

I'm not old. My bobbers just float a little lower than they used to.

there is nothing wrong with the tourney special, esp. for the weekend angler and they are on sale right now for under your budget.
