Hey guys, I've recently started a company doing cheap, all inclusive fly fishing trips to Ascension Bay, Mexico to fish for bonefish, permit, tarpon, and snook. If your interested you can visit my website at www.barebonesflyfishing.com

That would be great, except our company has a strict NO MEXICO policy for employees. With the situation down there, I would think it is a hard sell.
Thanks and Gig'em, Mark Fairchild

Yeah thats true. People have this idea that the violence is all over the country when in reality, down where I go fishing is very safe. We go pretty far off the beaten path where there is virtually no crime. Plus, there are big interests down there that want to protect the tourism industry and so there is always a big police and army presence in Cancun and on the highway down to Punta Allen. Let me put it this way, I feel way safer fishing down there then fishing out of Port Isabel nowadays.

I just set up a new 5 day package for $1500. I think that's the cheapest price around.

Sounds like a scam to my ears. For starters, your website is amateuristic at best with outdated and stolen gifs of fish. Have you actually ever been to Punta Allen? I have fished Ascension Bay three times and I can tell you that the accommodations range from tolerable to unsleepable. Where do we stay? The town has no electricity, so are we sleeping in tents without A/C or running water. Food? OMG, if you dont stay at a nicer place, you wont be able to fish because you will be in the bathroom 24/7. For a few dollars more, I can make sure I stay at a lodge with multiple years of operation and no worries about being jerked around by some internet wannabe huckster.

Come on now DblHaul1 there's no need to try and candy coat it or beat around the bush. Just tell us how you really feel about this deal. Oh and Danman2902,

Thanks Systematic and Jon! DblHaul, I'm sorry that my website wasn't up to your standards. I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm new to website design. The name of the hotel that we stay at is Casa De Ascension. It has been around since '97. It was started by a friend of my father's named Ex-Pat Mike who has been down there for 20 or so years and has run several other hotels in the area. I would say that it's mid range for Punta Allen. The reason that it's cheap is because it's not on the water and they don't advertise. It's located about 2 blocks east of the docks in the center of town. Punta Allen does run electric generators until about 9pm then Mike has his own generators that he will turn on, so there is air conditioning. Mike is also the head chef. He makes great pizzas, burgers, seafood, and steaks, so even if you are a picky eater, he can accommodate you. I have been going down there since I was a little kid and I recently I saw an opportunity to start a business taking fishermen down there for a much better price than the lodges offer. If you have the money to burn, please stay with ABBC ($3200/week) or Pesca Maya ($2825/week without alcohol), they are a little nicer. My target market is serious fishermen who want to take a shot at the slam, but don't want to pay those prices. I assure you that this is not a scam!

When five fish broke the surface at once, I felt like I was at an aquarium watching trained animals. A small child clapped her hands in excitement as the adults watched on in silence. It is beautiful moment in my life.

My favorite place is the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve is roughly 90 miles south of Cancun in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. It is a 1.3 million acre reserve which includes a long narrow barrier strip of land on its eastern shore. This thin peninsula has the Caribbean to its east and the saltwater flats and estuaries of the Sian Kaan to its west.

There should be places for all price ranges... I know lots of "bare bones" fisherman who love these kinds of trips. My friends would probably complain because the price is still too high. LOL

Ya i want to expand to some other locations, but I'd like to get a little more established first. I've been looking into Belize, but the thing is, the plane tickets are much more expensive. I think Punta Allen might be the only place left where you can do this kind of guided fishing for a week for under 3 grand including the plane ticket. I'm taking a group down in December but, I'm organizing trips for next year as well. If I can get a big group together (10+), I can get discounts and lower the rate so spread the word to your friends!
