I always use a leader with my braid. Braid has no give and you can pull the hook right out of a fish on the hook set. A leader will give you that little bit of stretch that you need for a good hook set. +1

The whole getting bit on braid vs mono or fluoro probably has more to do with the line characteristics than the fish seeing it and spooking (diameter, sink rate, and stretch.)
Just my .02 +1 Thats what I think so too. One thing I forgot to include in my original post: I did notice for me how using flouro helps me a lot during windy days (Since it sinks). Since Spiderwire put out their "Flourobraid", Ive been replacing all my spools with it. Its braid, but it sinks.

When fishing a C-rig, the fish often see the braid come across their face before they see the leader. The braid can potentially be a warning sign for seasoned bass. People think just because they use a mono or fluoro leader, that their okay. Not necessarily. You drag the braid by the fish first.

I always use a leader with my braid. Braid has no give and you can pull the hook right out of a fish on the hook set. A leader will give you that little bit of stretch that you need for a good hook set. +1 Plus, by using a leader, you have the option to break it off intentionally when you get hungup rather than maneuvering the boat too close and spook fish or cutting the braid and potentionally loosing 20 yards of line!

I don't think it matters unless you are fishing ultra clear water but thats just me. That being said I don't use braid on anything but frogs. +1 or flipping heavy brush

I rarely use braid but when I do the only time I use a leader is with a Carolina rig.

I use braid only on every rod I have. I fish lots of clear water and catch many fish. I don't think that it matters if you have a leader or not.

wow,!how big is a bass brain? the size of a pea, we think too much... But isn't that 3/4 of our motivation? ~~~~ I'm no expert, but I tend to think I can get by with braided line on any fast retrieve, not so much with a slow retrieve.
