Jokingly I told some friends that I was in need of a therapy session today, so I headed down to Calle for a little time with just me. Hit the water right after daylight, had a light north wind, decent temps until around noon when the wind quit, then it got way too hot to stay on the water. Results of the day was a total of 17 fish, mixed blues and channels, in 25-35 FOW, on cut shad sprayed with "Kat Juice". Ended up releasing 5 fish and donated 12 to some friends who didn't have a real good day. Highlight of the I thought was going to be the 11.78 # blue that was CPR'd, then I wanted to make one last drift. Got set back up, moved into the spot I wanted to go thru and then one of the big rods takes a deep bend. I knew it should be a good fish, since I had a monster shad head on as bait. It was a little bit of a trick to get the net, keep the fish occupied and then get it onto the net. This one tipped the scales at 16.10 pounds, just over 32" long. This one was also CPR'd. In addition these fish, I had 2 blues that were over 6#'s. Not too bad a day considering the heat. I did a couple of things different today that I had been wanting to try, reading the sonar and targeting specific things that I was looking at. Proof is in the pudding, it worked just like I wanted it to. Turned out to be a new PB blue for me.

Wow! Those are monsters by Cali standards. I got a 9#er from there and was really happy. Great fish!

I had another one hit earlier in the day on a big bait, it took the rod tip on a stout rod nearly to the water. I was slow getting to it and it was empty, have no doubt it was a blue.
