I wonder if Haycods is reading this post he really knows about catfish> Did You ask a TPWD agent? this hot weather and longevity could easly have cold blooded critters doing stuff we dont know much about. Very interfesting discovery> I am so excited you got the oppertunity to witness such an event!

mudhole knows the differenc between scales and skin. He says they were cats I believe him. Might reread my post.Probably different time different fish !
