I know there's a lot of discussion and a lot of opinions about hooks for bream. I was fishing Fayette one morning this week (forgot the camera at home) using #6 cricket hooks and they were swallowing them big time. I switched to #4 cricket hooks and they were still swallowing them. I'm talking about 4 inch to 6 inch fish - using earthworms.
I tied on an Owner #6 circle hook - walla! No more hooks swallowed.
I also caught them on feather jigs and small Rapala type lures. By the way, caught bigger fish on the artificials - 8, 9 and 10 inch read ear mostly.
Thought this might stir up some controversy!

I have also heard about the circle hooks being hard for fish to swallow. I have had super results using the size 6 Cricket Hooks and very few gut hooks using the sixes. I may just give the circles a try. Side Note: Feather Jig. I have your cards from the last contest. PM me your mailing address and I will get them out to you. Thanks.

Got to agree with the Banker. I use a size 6 cricket hook and don't usually gut hook that many. I can somewhat see that a circle hook could also work as well. May have to compare and see for myself. Thanks for the information.

One thing about circle hooks - it is a lot harder to thread a worm on the hook because of the shape.

The size of the circle also is something to consider. The Octopus hooks are another source. Threading the worms on circles ? Maybe consider wacky style.

You are correct about the size. One brand size 6 will be like size 10 in another brand. The Owner size 6 are a good size for bream. Wacky worms ....... hmmmmmmm
