It can be. As long as the title was in the person's name that you bought it from, he shouldn't have a problem getting a replacement title. If the title is still in a previous owners name or a deceased relatives name it can be difficult. Good luck.

What I mean to say is it ain't worth your trouble. Get your money back and tell him that if he can come up with the title IN HIS NAME before you find another deal on a boat you will go ahead and buy it.

Just called yesterday cause missed placed mine cost is 28 for each motor and boat. That is mailed to you. If you want what they call a quick title it is 69 each. Just FYI

Been there done that!!!It took a year to finally get a title on an old boat that was given to us.Im sure you want to use the boat when you get it,NOT,a year later.Be careful even if it's friends of the family.Their intentions may be good but you could have your money tied up in a very large paper weight!!!

Probably the best thing to do is take your friend to the TxPW office and do the paperwork there so you don't have to make too many unneeded trips. You can do an owner search on the TxPW web site.

+1 on having all paperwork before $ changes hands. I have bought and sold three boats in the last year and I will NEVER buy another one if the seller doesn't have title for both the boat and motor. I would also check both documents against the numbers on boat and motor. Trusting the person you are buying from is one thing but more often than not they bought the boat from someone else. Things have a way of falling through the cracks. Save yourself time & money! If they don't have proper papers walk away! Been there, done that, wish I hadn't!
