I use the Palomar knot and do not have any problems. With that being said, I also use Seaguar exclusively. I have heard in numerous circles I have been privy to that that is one of the few fluoros out there that you can get away with using the Palomar knot. Word on the street is it all depends on what brand of Fluoro you use because of molecular structures and formulas.
I am also not a "Flipper". A few of my buddies that fall into that classification tell me that that is the application where they had to modify their knot choice due to breakage thanks to the short line instant stress that a hookset delivers. Flouro has enough stretch to be forgiving at the knot when making long cast.

I'm one of the few guys on here that agree with Amart on this. I tie one knot with fluoro. Double Clinch. Fouz, i know this knot since you taught it to me, is that the same knot referenced in the video?

Yeah I hear what you guys are saying, it probably has a lot to do with what you have more confidence in and what you have had success using in the past.
I guess my question still is, does his argument have any merit about not using the knot test data that some people have put out due to the way they slowly put load on the knot versus quick like a typical hookset would be.
It sounds like it makes sense but sometimes what makes sense doesnt always work best. I know a lot of you swear by the palomar knot and there must be a reason for this or else you would not be using it.

Palomar on any braid.
Never had a break issue with either.

I tie palomar on my 8lb floro dropshot rig and havent broke yet and the couple of times I've gotten hung on something it has taken ALOT of force to break off. So I have no problems with palomar. Althouhg I have been trying the san diego jam here recently on all my other setups to see how it performs.

If you see my boat at the take off for a tournament you are fishing, you should try another knot I hear works really well. Tie three overhand knots and your bait will be secure.
Seriously though, Derby day is not the time to try new knots nor is prefishing days. Try out new knots and/or line on fun fishing days. On practice days, you are always looking to make adjustments to capitalize on the actual tournament day so you don't want to have to worry about finding a line solution. You may get false confidence in a new product or knot after trying it that initial time and you will get burned when money is on the line.
