I just got done watching a video with Aaron martens talking about fluro line and knots and says the palomar basically sucks. What he says kind of makes sense to me about not paying attention to the knot tests because they use slow steady pressure versus quick and powerful pressure which I would think makes a big difference.

What do you Palomar guys think? He recommends the
double Uni or San Diego.

The audio is kind of hard to hear due to the background noise but heres the link anyways. Hope this info helps.

I use the palomar and have never had a problem with it breaking.

I'm one of the few guys on here that agree with Amart on this. I tie one knot with fluoro. Double Clinch.

I respect the heck out of Aaron Martens. Everyone has an opinion. Greg Hackney is a firm believer in the palomar. You need to tie the knot you feel most comfortable with and can tie properly. To me, tying the knot properly is the most important aspect.

palomar has been good to me. palomar has been quick for me. I always wet it down before cinching it tight and it has worked.

We all stumble and make mistakes. When you stumble, do you want your brother to help knock you down or to help set you back on your feet?

I was breaking off over and over again at the knot on a Palomar last year until someone showed me a key tip for tying it which was basically to make sure to pull the tag end tight before pulling the main line. Since I made that little change I have not broken off at the knot since. I had tried using a Trilene knot at the suggestion of a good friend and it was just harder to tie quickly and effectively. To me the palomar is very easy to tie and since it works its all I use unless I am connecting braid to flouro then its a simple surgeons knot.

You do have to be careful with the Palomar with Fluoro. The theory is if the lines cross with Fluoro they the top line will eventually cut the bottom line and your knot will break. I use the San Diego Jam with Fluoro and the Palomar with everything else. It has made a difference. Not sure you see it as much with the fish, but if you hang in deep brush and have to break off, you notice the difference.

Well, I don't know how accurate his information is, but I certainly admire someone who isn't afraid to stray from the norm and think outside the box.
