Just found this forum and love the wealth of information. I'm planning a fishing (eating/drinking) trip to Rockport in November with about 10 guys. Is November a decent fihing time of year there? Most of us are fairly novice fishermen. Any advice on whether we should look charter a Bay trip or a Deep Sea trip? At first glance the trips out to sea appear quite a bit more expensive, which will scare some of my buddies off. Also, any advice on who we should contact as far as chartered boats?

Gereatly appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Mike

November is great for the bays around Rockport. Everything is on deck, reds, trout, flounder, their all there. Weather's nice most of the time. Seems like artificials really come into their own about then.
With ten guys, your looking at numerous bay charters. I may be wrong, but I do'nt think most inshore guides are licensed for more than three clients per boat, four maybe.
An offshore charter may be in order for such a large group. Most of those run out of Port Aransas.
Help him out guys.
And "Welcome Aboard!"

An inshore trip with a guide will cost $350-$500+ for 3-4 people. A 12 hour deep sea trip will cost you 80-100 per person and you will all get to go together. Make your choice on how much you want to spend on eating/DRINKING vs fishing. The 12 hour deep sea trips are pretty awesome that time of year. Gulf is usually calm, temps are not so blazing hot and the fish are pretty active. 2cents

Man up. Fight the GOOD fight.

For inexperienced fishermen, I'd recommend staying in the bays (not going offshore). Nothing like one or two of you getting seasick and ruining the trip for them and everybody else involved.

Call a guide and tell them you have 12. They will coordinate with their friends and set up multiple boats for you.

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

I don't even start fishing till then..

only caveat is that if a cold front blows in it might cancel your trip, but if you catch it between fronts... it can be on!
