I don't know one thing about salt water fishing, but I promised my son-in-law a fishing trip out of Galveston. Going to be there the first weekend in October and looking for advise on a charter or a party boat. Probably looking at a 8 to 10 hour trip.
Thanks in advance for any help. Looks like the charter boats are pretty pricey for my pocketbook. Are the party boats crowded that time of the year?
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

There are only two party boats in Galveston. There is Galveston Party Boats, and Williams Party boats. I have been out on the Capt John with Williams for the 10hr trip and I had a great time. I have never been out with the other.

With Williams you aren't allowed to bring you own cooler, but they sell food and drinks on the boat. I think you can bring a cooler on the Galveston Party Boats, but i'm not positive.

No cooler allowed with Galveston Party Boats. They do sell beer on the boat though!

FishinPhillip,

we will be there also the 1st thru the 9th

we are going out with capt john hopefully.

right now the only days he has anyone wanting to go out is thur the 6th with 2 people reserved and then friday the 7th with a group of 20 reserved...

if they do not have atleast 40 people they will not go out because of the cost of gas ect.
trip is 10 hours
after school starts they dont run as many trips
they said they may do a 36 hour tuna trip in oct, but cost is $350

maybe we will see you down there, we have a house rented.

Thanks for all the replies. Since I am a complete novice at the salt water deal, I booked on the Galveston Party Boat. I hope to be able to do this on a regular basis, and this will be a good place to start. Gotta start somewhere.

Talked to the guy this morning and they do allow the small soft sided coolers to be brought on board.

Thanks again.
