I'm interested in this form of fishing. I know a little about it, but not much. I'm very curious to try it out. Anyone have any tips? I'm curious how deep I should run my baits and if there is any particular rig I should use. I've read that it is good to try and drift over substantial changes in water depth, but don't know if there is something better to do than that. I'm not new to cat fishing, but I usually just fish stumps and structure on the bottom. Thanks for any advice.

use santee cooper rigs. right now, 10-20 ft of water.

Santee Cooper or 3 way rig. Right now they seem to be running the flats in 10 to 22 ft. Use your electronics to find the shad with big yellow/red arches below them. Drift around 1/2 mph.

How about where ya at? what lakes u gonna fish? What if his home lake averages 10 foot deep? or 40 foot?

Haha yeah I've watched a few before, just not the right ones...Nobody said what they were doing. Just saw one that gave some insight on how much to come up off the bottom. Thinking about giving it a shot tomorrow evening before I hit my honey hole.

I'm fishing Gibbons Creek Reservoir. Its a little bitty lake in Carlos, Tx. The lake doesn't get very deep...I think its max depth is 37 ft but its down 4 ft or so. Most water in the main body of the lake is 15-25 ft

Drift over river channels, humps, bowls, railroad tracks, gravel pits..........use cut shad , cut perch, live perch, .......stagger your rods- one short, next long,next short.........like Tom said .5 mph...need GPS to gauge speed that low......get 1-2 drift socks depending on size of your boat to slow it down to .5 mph if wind is good..........sometimes Sante Cooper rig works better sometimes 3 way works better so I use both....half rods Santee...half 3 way......adjust leader lentghs too .........got 18" leaders and marked fish but caught none....slow down and/or lenthgen your leader to 24-30" make another pass.....
