 Humminbird GPS Navigation Question

I have a 1197 Humminbird. When navagating to my waypoint at slow speed my boat icon will not go in a straight line, it dances all around to the point of going in circles it seems. Is there a setting on my unit regarding track interval,navigation mode on or off,etc that will correct this. I noticed on the BBC board this problem discussed several times back in 2009,but never saw a definite answer to the problem listed there. My software is up to date and the GPS puck has been upgraded to the newest available. Is there a fix to this in the unit set up menu or is it a Humminbird quirk I just have to deal with?

Not for sure but my 898 does it and I also work offshore and our high dollar GPS systems do the same thing most of the time.
