Hey there everyone... My wife and I are heading to Destin next week and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any good wade fishing there... trying to decide whether or not to take the fly rod... I was thinking of renting a kayak one day or maybe just finding a place to wade... any suggestions or information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey dbl duck, Try asking on www.texasflyreport.com. Are you familiar with that site? Seems to have more activity than this site on fly-related issues.
John 5:24 Very truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
1Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

dbl Duck, There used to be a stretch of hwy 98 between Destin and San Destin, with the Gulf on one side and the bay on the other. (Ask where the NCO Beach Club is, you'll see it on the way) Kind of like grassy flats with patches of sand. Lots of small speckled trout. There used to be some wadeable water at either end of Navarre bridge (on 98 going toward Pensacola), agian with the specks, some reds at times. I don't know if you can get to the jetties anymore, but they used to be a lot of fun. There were lots of Jack Crevalle, and a veritable potpori. I wouldn't go there WITHOUT my flyrod. Times have changes, I'm sure, but there has to be some water left for you. drop me an e-mail if you want to.
He leadeth me beside still waters.

Duck, You should definitely bring your fly rod to Destin. I was there earlier this summer, and I caught a whole mess of fish in the surf in front of where I was staying. I was further towards Seaside in San Destin, but the fishing in the early mornings was outstanding, and in the evenings pretty good as well. Mostly skipjack (Ladyfish) that put up quite a fight. Some pompano and crevalle jacks as well. Actually saw a huge school of tarpon feeding within 100 yards of me one morning. Saw a fish that must have weight over 120 pounds. Unbelievable. Definitely go to the Bass Pro Shops in San Destin. Go to the fly fishing section and talk to any of the older guys working there. They will be more than happy to share a few spots to wadefish with you for reds and specs. They are so nice there. They will set you up with the right patterns and give you great directions to a few spots to wadefish. Highyly recommend that you bring your fly rod and go to Bass Pro.
