Good morning/Afternoon

Well since my last post I have moved from the great north texas fishing area of Dallas to Houston. Does anyone have some insight to some fly fishing areas around here. I know that is a pretty general question, but none of my buddies done here fly fish. I was going to run over to the Bass Pro Shop in Katy and see what those guys say..but wanted to check the RESOURCE that is the TFF first. Some hints for some nice salt water flats fishing would be helpful.

On a seperate note: (unfortunately non-fly) I went down to Port Lavaca this past weekend and caught a mess of speckled trout.

Hope all is well!

I did a job in Houston a couple of years ago close to Memorial and Studemont and I'd go fish the bayous (concrete lined flood control) off I10 five minutes from there. There's a nice park right there and all kinds of grass carp you can sight fish to. Brown or black chenille balls on a #6 egg hook did the trick. Some probably went 6-7 lbs. Plus the looks you get from the joggers as you're fighting one of those dudes.......priceless!

Hi: I go to Port L. all the time...if you don't mind, what general area of Lavaca were you fishing? Skinny water or deeper channels and what type bait? Thanks, as I haven't been so far this month and am getting itchy.

We entered the water at the main casway and hooked a left straight out for about 5-10mins... Almost due east of the Casway..you will hit a sand bar..well its mostly rock etc... but you should be able to see the surf breaking. We fished on both sides of the break using LIVE shrimp. Had a blast and caught trout all day.

BTW: This is Port Lavaca...
