Out from 8:30 to noon this morning, tried 3 structures and caught fish on all 3. Ended up with 66: 62 whites, 3 cats and a drum. All 3 spots were near dam. Greenhouse Ridge is 20 ft on top right now, and that's where the fish were. Caught 23 there. Moved over to East Dam Hump; it is 14 ft on top and biggest concentration of fish was at 14 ft. Caught about 30 there. Finally, went to Dam Ridge West of Pole. Found fish there in 15 to 17 ft. Was catching fish readily there when I decided it was too hot and came home.

I caught fish 2 ways today: (1) Using a #2 silver Mepps with 1/4 oz weight about 14 inches up the line. Worked it slowly off the bottom and fish would hit it within 3 cranks of reel. (2) Using a #4 silver Mepps w/ red dots (sse pic below). They wanted this worked fast - short and long drags up from the bottom, and they usually hit it on the long (6 to 8 cranks) drag.

Caught about an equal number each way.

White caught on #4 Mepps silver w/ red dots

nice report dennis

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Way to go Dennis. Seems when the fishing is slow - you're still catching them! Nice job!

I fished several spots this afternoon from 1:30 til 5, Didn't manage as many sand bass as Dennis, few do, but did stumble onto a couple hybrids further north. Water temperature was 89° to 92° and the wind was very light and variable. OAT ran 106°.

There are a lot fewer folks out in the afternoon, go figure.

BTW if you launch from Fishermans Wharf and see a plastic bottle floating near the ramp please leave it there, it marks a rather large stump.

So Sorry George, I picked that up to use to water my patio plants.

I'll be using the Log Cabin ramp from now on, the trailer just drops off the end of the earth at the ramp. It will be okay for shorter boats.

Nice report Dennis. It's a little slow here on our end!

George are you talking about the Fishermans wharf ramp that drops off because I haven't noticed it. I'm surprised the log cabin ramp is still that good, I remember falling off of that ramp years ago when the lake was low but the ramp was newly built.
I haven't tried BigCheif at all, it might be better. I know it's steeper than I like.

The rear of the trailer drops off and the boat floats it causes the bow of the boat to push down on the bow roller hard enough that you can't lift it or back off the trailer.
