This was a very interesting article in the In-fisherman magazine for Aug/Sept 2011.
It seems that all my catfishing life I have always been told to be quiet or you would spook off the catfish. Until now. The article in the In-Fisherman magazine tells you and even shows you how to rig for bottom fishing and top water catfishing. Both use a rattle system to bring in the blues and catfish. I do know that the Klonker will bring in the flatheads but never knew that sounds would bring in the catfish and blues as well. So if you would like to check up on this new way of catfishing I would highly recommend you go out and buy you the latest In-Fisherman magazine and see for yourself if this is something you might like to try. Heck, us die hard catfishermen will try just about anything to bring in the catfishing bites.

I liked the idea of drilling a small hole in a bobber and putting some small B-B's in it and then sealing it off and use it for bottom fishing. Worth a try anyway. Heck, I bet almost all of us catfishermen have tried different ideas only to find out that it did not work well for them. But at least we tried. This idea is no different. Worth a try and will not cost you an arm and leg either. Now just need for the 100 degree days to end so my wife and I can finally get back to the fishing.

It does make sense that the noise plays a part... My father in law pops his quill-type cork alot when using punch bait under water turkey roosts in shallow water, and he was wearing us out catching 2 or 3 to everyone else's 1. I tried to one up him by using a full blown popping cork on a couple of occasions, but never equalled him on numbers. The popping cork did improve the numbers overall though.

My uncle (JW) tells of the time that he, my Dad, and my GrandDad were fishing in a big back creek. My GD always set lines out as by set hooks, short poles (limbs) with line & hook on them along the bank. The catfish weren't biting, so my Dad fired up the 3.5 HP & ran the 12 foot flat bottom back & forth.

JW said he just knew that GD was really getting Peowed about it & it was just a matter of time before a blood vessel would pop & my Dad would get a chew that would take such a bite it would have extended beyond the state line.

But all of a sudden, the catfish started biting. And my Dad was spared.

i pulled about a 4lb cat out at Georgetown on a jerkbait off of a point. Pretty crazy catch but it was fun.

I like to take a hammer and beat a piece of pipe into the ground where I expect to catch big blues. Prefered tone is 10# sledge on 1" gas pipe :))

Guess I will have to try this method now. So I got me a couple of small bobbers and used a soldering iron to put the small hole into the plastic and put some B-B's in them and sealed it over with epoxy. Will give it a try on my next catfishing adventure.

I already have a klonker I bought several years ago to help bring in the flatheads. I just did not realize that sound would also bring in the catfish and blues and since I seen the article in the In-Fisherman magazine i am now going with the bobber method to try out and see if it will work for me. fish

This assumes very shallow water or really long pipe?

Wow, I didn't know strippers were legal to catch on R&R??!!

What do you use for bait $20 bills?!! rolfmao rolfmao

Couple of those would sure look good mounted on my wall, but I don't think the wife would like it very much.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting on the water looking like a darn fool.
