So, I bought my very first boat and now I need some help on where to take it. I live in Corinth and I'm really close to the Sycamore Bend Park boat ramp. Are there any good spots over there for crappie or catfish? I could also launch it at Westlake Park or Arrowhead Park. It's a jon boat so I don't think I want to cross the main lake to get to a particular spot. Or do I? Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction. Here she is! ![](http://www.ashleylangford.com/boat.JPG)

Unrelated, but I'm pretty proud of myself for finally learning how to properly throw my cast net. It sat in the garage for at least five years. Thank you YouTube! I took it out to Willow Grove Park by the dock to practice and actually ended up catching about 20 shad before I stopped.

Between your "new to you" jonboat & learning to throw at castnet, you can really get into some serious fishing. Intime you will find some "honeyholes" to fish. That's what it's all about. Roger

Neat little boat! You're gonna have a blast with it. Take a boater's safety course.
Don't envy the guys in the big $60,000 bass boats. You'll be catching fish in stump fields, and cypress knees that the guys in the big boats can only dream about.
Length width and horsepower?
I've got a 14-36 jon, w/ a 20 mariner on it.
SECEDE!!!!!

I ran a sweet little 12 ft. Jon with 9.9 motor for 20 years! Loved it! Broke it in half in heavy waves.......swamped it another time in a storm. Patched it up both times and it is still going strong! ![thumb thumb](/forums/images/graemlins/default/cup.gif) Ya can't hardly kill a Jon Boat!
****Sun sinking low....lines baited.....gentle south breeze blowing...you realize.........I AM! .

Thanks for the feedback! The boat is 14' and I'm running a 5.5 motor on it. I took it out last week to practice unloading and loading it. Reversing into the water took some getting use to but overall it went really well.
My kids are so excited! Just waiting on some cooler temperatures and then off to explore I guess.

Jon boats are the way to go when you want to catch catfish. I have a 1979 16ft lowe line deep v with a 1979 Mercury 40hp that I rebuilt almost completely, and I also decked the entire boat and built a console etc. It has caught tons of fish this summer and is perfect for me and a few buddies to fish in all day. And the best part is, It'll run all weekend on 6 gallons of gas. And the durability is also a major plus. I grew up with a fiberglass VIP and I remember cleaning it more than fishing out of it. Enjoy it!
