Went to Purtis Creek this morning with a friend of mine, who just learned how to fly-fish. We hit the water at 7:30. We fished mostly poppers.
At around 8:00 had 2 hits, and both times got close to landing the fish, but lost them. Finally landed a fish, about a 2 lb largemouth.
About an hour later caught another largemouth (about 1.5 lb) and then a small sunfish later.
My friend got a hit, and almost landed it, but it got away at the end. They seemed to prefer yellow poppers today (Tried white, brown, green also but no luck).
Left at noon...

Hi Hack,
We were on a boat. I have an old 17ft alum bass-tracker. A guy on the lake said that May should be a better month for top-water action. I might head out there again then.
Good luck!

Christian
