My buddy and I hit Texoma Friday. We got a late start, not getting on the water until after 10:30. We were getting bit off and on all day, and just knew it was going to be on for the evening bite.....never happened! Don't think either of us got bit after 6. The biggest of the day. 2.4 lbs, came at around 3:15. We probably had 15 - 20 smallies thru the day, most being 13" - 13 1/2"

I did get the put 15# Red label to the test. Foul hooked a carp in the tail, had to get on the trolling motor so he didn't strip off all my line. Got him to the boat and managed to shake crankbait out of the tail....looked to be at least 40 lbs.

Im still waiting the crack the 3# mark on a smallie, hopefully this fall.

Full moon at night, all night. Catch the moon when it's rising all the way to directly overhead (apogee?) - small spinner baits and surface baits.

love me some smallies. THey are super strong. We catch them here in Kanas alot. This has been my best year for nice fish. Lost count of 3-4 pounders. That said, I'd still rather live in Texas where the big green fish live!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was miserable out Jimmy. Think we both drank 10 bottles of water and couple of Gatorades while we out. Stopped at Alberta for lunch and to cool off then took another 30 minute break in the shade around 4ish.

very nice, gotta love those brown fish. Sounds like a great day despite the hot water.

Bass fishing is like a 30,000 acre golf course with no flags and five holes you can't see- Tim

My buddy has gotten me addicted to the brown fish. I'm hearing they are starting to be caught on a more frequent basis at Grapevine. I caught two little ones out there last fall. Looking forward to cooler weather and more trips to Texoma though.

Drive just a little farther to Lake Murray,OK. That lake is loaded with smallies and they are easy to catch.
