Can any one tell me exactly where to get CDC feathers off a duck? I know it's in the butt area. Is one species about the same as the other in terms of butt feathers?

It's the area around the preen gland. On top of the duck just in front of the tail feathers. Can't miss it.

Thanks, found'em. That is a good write up too. I found it too after posting the question, I was up to my elbows in duck when I asked, now I've got the feathers, have tied flies with'em and even caught some trout on them.

Just stocker rainbows in the Brazos below PK. Used the CDC to make some little grey RS2 emergers. You wouldn't think they would be that picky right out of the truck but it seemed like it took something that small to get them.

well thanks! Glad it went well. How small were the small RS2s? Are the fish holding close to the dam or spread out along the basin? ------------------ RRhyne56, Flyfishing Warden rrhyne56@comcast.net Robins Custom Flies and Leaders

Size 20. Hate to admit I fish that small for stockers but that's what they wanted. I fished right after they stocked so they were mostly were right down from the bridge where they put them in. They disperse pretty fast in there though.
