As fishermen, we all need to support those that support us. If not for the people that advertise on here or help sponsor your favorite tournaments, they would all go away. Dillon Lee paid for a good sized ad on this forum for quite a while. He is a Farmers/Foremost agent and sells the best insurance money can buy. Also a pretty darn good fisherman. Call him at 903-575-0000.

Not to play Captain Obvious, but there are advantages to consolidating your insurance with the same carrier. Gives you a little more leverage, and you only deal with one agent. I doubt there is much substantive difference in the policies and pricing offered by the major players. In the interests of full disclosure, I've got everything with State Farm. They may not be the rock-bottom cheapest, year in and year out, but they're not as bad about nickle-and-diming you when you have a serious claim.

I do not know Dillon Lee but if he is an Agent for Farmers/Foremost I can give a +1 for Foremost insurance. Early in the season I managed to to do a stupid thing with my trolling motor, long story, my fault and it broke beyond repair. I called my agent who put me in touch with the Foremost claims department. I explained exactly how I broke my motor and asked if I might be covered. The claims agent searched the internet while I was the phone, found a retail price for a 109 lbs motorguide which would be comporable replacement for mine. He then used the retail price less my deductible and three days later I had a check for $952.00. Oh yeah, he called me back aprroximately 30 minutes later saying he was going to include 1 hour of labor charge @ $95 (included in the $952) to mount the new motor. Needless to say I am now a customer for life with this type of service.

FYI- any one operating a guide business should have commercial liability insurance. The Outdoor Insurance Group specializes in this, but obviously your gonna pay more than your average rates for non commercial insurance. Play it smart so you don't loose everything you've worked for. I rarely have people ask about insurance because most probably assume all guides have it. The fact is though that a regular policy thru progressive or state farm won't cover you on a guided trip if you or a customer gets hurt.. I would also bet that most guides operate without any commercial liability. Any way not that it's my business who does or doesn't. Unfortunately it's not something that is mandated by the state unless you have to have a uscg license. If it were mandated there wouldn't be near as many guides out there as there are. I hope this helps some of you newer guides out there.
