The first 3/4 of the book was excellent, I wonder how the movie came out?

From what I just read, the author successfully sued to get his name removed from the credits of the movie. Generally speaking, that's not a good sign. The original authors of Jaws and The Shining felt similarly about Spielberg and Kulbrick's work, but those are exceptions to the rule.

Other than her(Amber Heard) being uber hot and holding a flyrod nuts, I would hold off and spend the evening actually fishing or something of the sort.

It's more than the catfish would do.

I've read the book three times and it is (obviously) one of my favorites.

I will see the movie if it comes on Netflix.
I doubt that I could resist.

I understand the author's discontent with the making of the film.
I can only hope that Duncan actually becomes involved in a more serious effort to take this story to the silver screen.

seriously ???
I saw the movie & the book must be better but not enough to re-make the entire movie & re-distribute it

Well I cant promise you that you would like the book, but I'd encourage you to read it.

The movie that is out now is a low budget, independent adaptation without the author's involvement.
Im sure there is a hope that this film will be gone and forgotten in a couple years.

David James Duncan has shared his own ideas and plans for adapting the book to a movie before the current film got off the ground.
If they could promote a higher budget movie with the same hype as "A river runs through it" I believe it could be successful in the mainstream theaters.
