Robin - you seem to have the best knowledge on briminators. I see some folks are tying them in chartreuse. Curious about the recipe for these?

Hey Doug

Its a one feather fly. Tied with the church window feather off of a ringtail pheasant skin.

First, tie in beadchain eyes.

Then thread to the rear and use the marabou-ish part of the feather to tie in tail.

Next, one can fudge and use dubbing-in-a-box or else use scraps off of the same feather to dub up the body.

Tie in the last bit soft hackle style with the webby, soft hackle part of the feather. Bring thread on forward and finish out the head behind the hookeye.

I believe its the Spring 2006 issue of Southwestern Fly Fishing that has an article on it.

Robin - thanks. I had noticed a few entries about it from my searching. I guess I was wondering... if someone tied it in Chartreuse, did they use something besides the church window feather ......

Hmmm, never have run across that. I suppose one could dye a pheasant skin or else use dyed chicken feathers and get pretty much the same result.

Interesting you want chartruese... I have never had much luck with chartruese subsurface brim flies. Sometimes they seem to be scared by it ( you know, the inspection committee wink ) but I seem to have much better luck with black, brown or olive.

John 5:24 Very truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

1Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.
