I want to make a 7' Casting MH multi purpose rod with micro guides. I prefer a through blank handle also.

What it the best blank and or kit to buy for a Quality Made rod for under $100.

Also want my own trademark emblem on it, does that require some type of special screening or ......? scared

check out Mudhole.com, they have a great kit with their own proprietary blanks for not alot of money. And the blanks are very good! MHX series..... You will need to get wrapping thread, epoxy, someway to turn it while its drying......its a very addictive hobby, I have been building and selling rods for a couple years now. Depending on your emblem, Mudhole does custom labels, or I use a guy that's called Golden Touch Decals, you can google him.

Years ago..I told my wife ''I just wanna try it.Im only gonna build like one a year''
rolfmao

Besides Mudhole's shipping prices..They are a great company to deal with and have a nice site to navigate..The MHX and the HM-MHX line are very nice blanks for the $.You can buy a kit if you want...But its much more fun to select what you want on the rod..But there's nothing wrong with a kit for the first rod.
The first one is the most expensive (with all the tools and epoxies you'll need) Mudhole also has a decent starter kit for that as well..

For simple black decals...I lay down a light colored wrap, then my first coat of epoxy. You want a smooth surface for decal application...I use waterslide inkjet decal paper...I print em on my personal HP printer...Spray two coats of Krylon Crystal clear and apply over the area where I want it..Let dry, then apply finish over it.done.
Color ink doesnt show as strong over light threads,Unless you use white or similar...So I stick to black....Any thing else I order from my supplier.(Golden Touch Decals)
Heres one I just did.

Pass on mudhole, you'l thank me!

http://www.batsonenterprises.com/

Take a look at a Rainshadow blanks and the line of parts Batson makes. They are made in the USA and are the best quality out there. I have a line of bass rods I have built with their blanks and components and couldn't be happier.

If you have an specific questions feel free to PM me. (I'm getting on a plane right now to Waco otherwise I'd look up some blanks for you)

From what I have read it does not look like you build custom rods to save money...

I would like to build my own rods too, but dang the cost and time of doing so would effect my fishing time.

Lets see I use to fish a lot more. Seems like now I am building rods trying to get rods out as orders keep coming in. It is fun but can be very time consuming. Even more so when you first start and are learning all the tricks.

built two rods 3 or so years ago on some rogue blanks sold one to my buddy jeff and kept one for myself. these blanks are so awesome the 7' 9" i built for myself is a heavy power rod that fishes like a med heavy and only weighs 5.4 ounces tough as nails too stopped a ceiling fan more than once. still use it every time i go fishing. dont really like building rods though to darn tedious. and i even had a really nice foot control wrapper.
