I'll let you know how it works and if it improved my fishing. Heck, for that price it be nice if it reeled in the fish while I was chomping down on a PB&J sandwich.

The spot lock works decently in a straight line wind but if it's swirling you will be blown all over the place. Mine was putting me out 20' the other day, I know the distance because I dropped some marker bouys. Still beats fighting the wind, holding a rod and steering with the foot but not always a 10' circle as claimed.

I was fishing the 515 bridge (east) and a boat next to me had this. I was a bit jealous as they fished for about an hour and never once touched their trolling motor! I almost bought this a few months ago and decided against it because I fish shallow a lot and I don't think it's ideal for shallow areas or running through stumps.
If they would come out with a unit you could attach to the jack plate and use it for deep stuff only then I would buy it. Keep it simple and make it a deep GPS lock position only unit.

Get the 60, no question. It may hang over when stowed a little but the extra length really helps when stowing. Also when it's windy you can lower the motor... if it's coming out fully lowered you probably need to go home anyway. Without a doubt my Terrova is my most valuable piece of gear. I've had guys come up to me and ask how I stay in one spot for two hours with no anchor. It's expensive but worth it.

Chad711 ...if it was Friday and a white/red Triton it might have been me.
Another nice spot-lock feature is the spot-return. If fishing on spot-lock, and move to retrieve hung lure or move to another spot for a different angle, then one can do spot-return to return to a earlier spot-lock location.
The 60" Terrova just barely extends outside side of boat when up. And I have a little Triton TR-186(18.5 ft).
Sometimes I miss the "feel" I had with a cable-driven motor, but I am now use to the electic-driven Terrova and like the additional GPS features.

Im definitely considering saving for one of these. Maybe by the time I have the money saved up they will have any bugs worked out. I love the idea of the Spot-Loc. Its kind of like having a Power Pole for deep water.

When you buy one, you will never want anything else. I fish anywhere I want. Shallow or deep. get the 60" shaft. You can stick it all the way down and hang on the main lake points when everybody else is in the cove getting out of the wind. spot lock is awesome. autopilot is awesome. Just point it where you want to go, set your speed and go.

I agree- high winds or swirling winds will push the boat around a little too quickly for the gps system to react and the front of the boat gets blown back and forth a bit. However when its really windy I have found it's easy just to spot-lock upwind from my spot and walk to the back and throw off the back of the boat (I have plenty of room for 2 people to stand on my back deck). You don't feel the nose of the boat moving back and forth very much at all from the back, it's much more stable for hitting a spot in high wind. I was able to fish in 25+ mph winds this year by going to the back. And of course with this system it's nice because I can just move to the next spot using my remote and don't ever have to leave the back of the boat. A big +1 for the Terrova.

I had a Ranger with a 60" minkota on it. I thought it was too long. I fish shallow a lot, and I always had to raise the motor, so it didn't drag the bottom. The motor stuck up so high that it was in the way. I don't think I'd ever get another 60" trolling motor. If you can cut it down, then it's probably not a bad deal. Rangers sit lower at the bow than some other boats.

I have a Terrova with 60" shaft and i-pilot. Have been running it since they came on the market. Would not have any other trolling motor now. This thing has got to be the best innovation in trolling motors ever. I highly recommend one to anyone thats looking.

Do any of ya'll have the Terrova attached to a stabilizer when trailering or motoring across the lake? I was wondering if it was needed or not.

Bassalope, There's a RAM Mount made for trolling motors. I have one on mine and I lock it down any time I run across big waves. I got mine at Cabelas.
