This spring my boat just started randomly dying. So then starts the issue of ethanol and such. I had all of the fuel system replaced with new stuff. Fished the following weekend on rayburn with no problems. Got back home and fished atourn on lake waco. Leaving my second spot my boat just died. BUT what i noticed this time is that it killed everything in my boat. I had 2 aeriators running and the depth finder. It always starts right back up with no problem but it may die again in 10 seconds or it might run all day. I can run my motor with the master switch off and vise versa with all of the accessories. On my starting battery I have the 2 main wires going to the motor and about 4 smaller wires going to various other stuff. Any idea of what may be causing this. As it sits right now I have replaced all of the ring terminals on the starting battery and just bought 3 new batteries for the boat. With it killing everything i am thinking it has to be battery related. Interstate battery said that my starting battery which had been charged was only holding 10 to 11 amps and was dropping under load. I am running a 99 Yamaha 225. I am worried that this may not fix my problem and I will not know what to do next. I have a tourn sunday on whitney so i wanted a gameplan of what to look for. Thanks in advance

You need to check the terminals at both ends of the battery cables. Some where is a bad spot. When you loose power like that, If you have a fuel injected motor, you are loosing power to the electric fuel pump.

You have included no information on the type of motor or year.
The key switch could also be the issue.

Is your battery big enough to support all that running off it? If the problem happens when it is over a 100 out you may what to look at your battery rating. Recently happened to a friend of mine and swapping to a higher rated battery fixed everything.

Only common connection to power for all of those systems, is at the battery. EFI motors have to have 12v to ECM to run. Lot of problems with battery have been corrected with getting rid of the wing nuts.

Mine did the same thing with 2001 200hp merc EFI. ECM had to be rebuilt. ECM controls fuel pump and ejectors. Sounds like fuel pump is cutting off.
