I have 1, although Im not of fond of it as some of my other rods, they arent bad. i have let loose some hard hooksets and hoisted a lot of fish from the water and it never broke. Chances are you got 1 that was already damaged in shipment..OR, a rod that someone smacked ona rack at the store on accident.

My wife broke one of her Dobyns rods in to three pieces on Saturday on a hook set and it sure left one heck of a welt down her arm from her elbow to her wrist

I would disagree with you. These rods are the ultimate man rod. Long, yellow and insensitive as heck.

I dont use them for anything you need feel on. Swim bait and frog rods have been good to me. I treat them like [censored], set the hook as hard as I can everytime, ( well, almost everytime ) and have had them for about 3 years, no problems.

Go Army... you are right on target. I've been thinking of getting ahead of the curve and starting an "______ Rods Are Lame Because They Break" topic and then everyone can just list the specific manufacturer they are mad with at that particular moment.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

I had 1, first cast ever, I hooked up, got the 15inch fish to the boat and went to swing it in, the rod snapped at the 3rd eyelet. I returned it and never went back to them. You here this same stuff about the H20s, the Abu Veritas, Carrot Stix, etc. Any rod in that $100 or under price range is probably going to have some QC issues.

I got three Skeet Reese rods at Dicks on clearance for 40 Dollars. The first two seem fine but the third broke at the third eye. I just put line on and pulled. It just snapped. Don't buy any of the rods. Oh boohoo! It gets so irratating when people get on here and tell people not to buy a rod because it broke on them. Could have been for many reasons. Take it back get another one or a different one. Big deal. I've had 2 since they first came out and never a problem. I guess no one should buy a car, since they break done too. It happenes, every rod from every manufacturer has broken a rod for some reason or another. Speak the truth brotha!!!

Best rod for around $100 is the St. Croix Premier. I've heard of the Carrot Stix breaking a lot, but as far as I can tell the Skeet rods and Veritas are pretty durable, though not made with near the care and attention as the St. Croix.
