Bought a humminbird 798c si from Academy 3 weeks ago. Accidentally wound up on the system status screen today and it said 4541 total hours. I guess they sold me a display. Hope they take it back because I paid full price.

if not, I would call humminbird and voice my complaint that you bought "new" and was sold a USED unit!

Might have been a switch out by someone who wanted rid of a problem unit(buy it, switch the units out and return it). Either way thats a bunch of junk! I'd be getting it exchanged or make a fuss big enough so they fix the problem.

Still can't figure it out. When I took it out of the box there wasn't a smudge or scratch on it.

Take it back and order a new unit from Universal Mania - you'll save some money.

I bet they take it back no questions asked. They are good about that stuff. Good luck with your 798, I got a 798cisi combo and love it for my little boat.

Academy will take it back I wouldn't go in mad and rude they never have given me a problem returning anything at all. I've brought in just a rod handle and they gave me a new one no questions asked except "is there anything wrong with it" haha

I'm not mad, just disappointed. That thing had to set there for a year to accumulate that kind of hours. I'm taking it back tomorrow. I don't think there will be a problem. I bought a Falcon rod that the reel seat nut(whatever you call it) was messed up and the guy at the door apologized and walked me back to the rods and helped me take care of it.

Academy has HAD a good reputation on "returns."
But, now they have new owners.
I too am curious how they'll handle this situation.
