Check Academy like juice said. I was in there 2 days ago and noticed that on one of the clearance tags they had an original Mustang Auto/Manual marked down from $99.00 to 29.99. Of course they were sold out or I would have bought all of them.

Get the Mustang with the Hydrostatic Inflation Technology (H.I.T.).

My advice is do not buy an off brand. If you do it will be hard later on to get the refill cylinders.

Realize this: In Texas if you have an inflatable then you must wear it ALL THE TIME! You can't leave it connected to the kill switch and leave it behind the steering wheel like a regular vest AND the inflatable will NOT count as a throwable. IT MUST BE WORN.

You DO NOT have to wear it all the time. As long as you have enough regular jackets in the boat to cover the number of people on board, you don't have to have it on.

I have been stopped by GW multiple times not wearing my auto inflatable and they just asked to see regular jackets. I showed it to them and we were good to go.

I did not know that. I have 1 in My Boat but I was under the same impression as Bigron. I would really like to know for sure?
They are alot cooler but they are still awfully hot in the Weather that We have had this Summer and I tend to take Mine off.

It is all completely a stupid law on the wearing of one of these. But, like you I keep two regular PFD's in the boat, so we can take them off in the Summer. This was a first hand note from a GW.

This is one law that should be changed. I think everyone could throw a H.I.T. or auto futher than a normal jacket. I carry 2 normal jackets but it takes up a lot of storage space.

That is not fully true anymore....

Purchase an inflatable pfd with type II certification... It will count as a pfd for the game warden inspection .. whether it is being worn or stowed. Mustang has inflatable pfd models with HIT technology that now have uscg type II approval for recreational watercraft.
