Does anyone ever change the size of the treble hooks on their topwaters or cankbaits if so do you go bigger or smaller? Also what is the best brand for treble hooks for a topwater or crank?

I go a size bigger on a lot of baits. You have the check the topwaters and make sure you don't alter the action too much. I go to triple grips on mine.

I like the triple grips and use the short shanks (KVDs) on the CBs. I usually kept the size the same if the original hook was a short shank, but if the original shank was long I go 1 size larger. On topwaters I pretty much keep the same sizes and shanks as the original. KVDs for the short shanks, and the longer shanked standard triple grips for the long shanked hooks.

I'm a triple grip fan too. I don't up size my topwater hooks for the same reasons mentioned, but I saw a show where some pro upsized his FRONT hook on his deep divers to get them to suspend....I thought that was kind of cool, so I may try it next time I'm out. Although if we don't get some rain soon, I won't need Deep Divers!

I usually stay the same on topwaters and will go up on cranks i like the KVD Triple grips when I can find them but most of mine are the Owner st36 they are really good hooks and sharp.

The main thing I want for ALL my hooks is SHARPNESS! I am constantly honing hooks! I believe in it sincerely! I have caught bass and other fish that just took a light nibble at my crank bait. When in doubt about a hook's integrity......I CHANGE IT!

After reading these responses I guess it might be time to take a closer look at my hooks. I am guilty of not changing/upgrading my hooks. It seems that manufactures are using higher quality of hooks or at least their sharpening techniques are better. Not like the old hooks that Rattletrap and Bomber used to put on baits. Now those were bad!

When in doubt about a hook's integrity......I CHANGE IT! That is a good philosophy to take with ur hooks, I need to work on doing the same...
