Ok, real beginner here, I've had mine on a pond twice, went to Eagle Mountain Sunday (first time to fish in it) I'm looking for calmer conditions until I get used to it more. I'm thinking Arlington, Benbrook, Lake Worth, Joe Pool, Eagle Mountain, Marine Creek, or something similar, those are just some in the area. I'm open to suggestions. I don't know much about any of these lakes, or where to put in at. Any help is appreciated! No specific fish, I just want to catch something. Thanks!

white rock lake is a good quiet, non motor boat, lake to get used to your kayak in. They have nice bass and catfish, carp and of course crappie in the fall and spring. White rock creek is also a nice quiet paddle.
if you have a smartphone get the austin kayak launch point App, it is free. Then you can just go to an area in the map and hit launch points and it will drop a pin on anywere you can launch a kayak from.

I fish eagle mountain a lot in the big no wake zone around the lake country marina/harbor one area. A lot of mornings there's sandbass schooling everywhere in there....I don't fish for them, but it would be a good opportunity to catch some fish

I heard Lake Arlington is shut down. To the boaters at least. The lake is too low

Depends on how far you want to go. Cleburne State park has a nice 100+ acre spring fed lake with a non-wake law.

I launched at harbor one a month ago and didn't see any thing but I only paddled around the H1 marina and by the lake country docks.I grew up in Saginaw but only recently started fishing EM but know most of the reference points on the lake. Do I need to head further out into the lake?(like between the Harbor one and the marina further west)We were planning on heading out there this weekend to try some new spots.I did a reconnaissance mission last Saturday, launching at pelican bay and paddling to the Island but that takes too much time and energy(there were times I actually got out and walked cause it was faster. We enjoyed the top water action last week but it was over quick. Thanks and hope to see ya out there.I am in a green canoe. Pm me if you don't want to let out secrets .

My two biggest bass ever came from Cleburne State Park and Benbrook Lake. Both over 9 pounds and caught near the dams.
Still learning to kayak fish with my Hobie Outback.
