Looking for opinions. What is your favorite setup for sandies? What is your favorite setup for hybrids?
Brands, gear ratio, rod length, stiffness and action .........

For Sandies I like the Shimano Sedona 2500 with 15# braid on the skeet reese "nanner" rod. Mine is the sinko worm rod.
I just bought my second curado baitcasting reel and will match it with a Temple Fork MH 7' rod in a couple of weeks. I have 17# green trilene on the curado. I also have a sedona 2500 with a 7' Falcon Bucoo rod with Medium action. Both of my spinning rigs are great!
The new H2O rods are nice from Academy as well. They are much cheaper! This fall they will have a rod sale that is worth the wait!

I can't decide between my Abu Revo SX, or my Curado for reels. juggle I also have a H2O metal,(I think) that's hard to beat for the money. Bass Pro Extreme reels are pretty good bang for buck wise. 6.3-1 or 7-1 ratios. All depends on what you want to pay. As for rods, I like the Castaways, American Rodsmiths, and the All Star entry level rods. All are normally around $49 at Academy and sometimes cheaper. Either M or MH in 6.6'-7'. My two cents. Hope this helps. thumb

I like the Temple Fork rods, either the 6'6" or 7' prefer the 7'ers. I use a medium heavy rated rod when fishing a sassy shad and a medium rod with Kahuna spoons and slabs. Most of my reels are spooled with 12 or 15 pound Big Game.

I usually go with reels from BassPro, the extreme reels are good bang for the buck. Some articulate folks would suggest that they are a good value.

It ain't easy making it look easy.

I fish all Abu Garcia Revo SX's and Winch's

For vertical Sandbass fishing with a 1.5oz slab or smaller I use my Revo SX 6.4:1 on a 6'10 Med Heavy Falcon Bucoo

For casting/pitching slabs 1oz or heavier I use my Revo SX 6.4:1 on 7ft MED HEAVY Vendetta

For sandbass fishing with slabs under 1oz or with heavy tailspinners I want to keep up in the water column I use my Revo SX 7.1:1 on a MED HEAVY Vendetta

For Vertical Fishing Heavy Slabs, Kahunas, or Sassy Shads I use my Revo WINCH on a 7ft MED HEAVY Veritas

For casting Kahunas or Sassy Shads I use my 2nd REVO WINCH on a 7'3 MED HEAVY Vendetta

All SX rods are spooled with 20lb Seaguar Red Label Flouro
The two WINCH's are spooled with 20lb P-LINE CX PREMIUM

For casting flutter spoons I use an Abu Garcia Cardinal 500 ALBI spooled with 10lb P-line CX PREMIUM

A 6500 for sand bass? Seems a little much. I agree on the Abu part though, but a 4600 is plenty.

Now if you're rigging live bait for hybrids and striper, the 6500 is a fine reel.

For sandies I like to use a Curado/St. Croix 6'6" Premier, Med power or a Calcutta 100/St. Croix 6'6" Premier, Med Heavy power.. For hybrids I have a Calcutta 200 on an All Star T38X 7' rod..

Bass Pro Shop left handed Pro Qualifier with a medium berkley cherry wood 6'6' for slabs. spooled with 20 lb Power pro ( 6 lb diameter ) .

I use a Pflueger Trion Spinning Reel with 10 braid ( 4 lb diameter ) for casting top water and plastics

I also have some of the old ABU rounds red and silver all rigged up with different lures.

Most of my reels are wrong handed as Ruben says LOL rolfmao

Wow, it seems like most the people have alot of money to spend. I got an Abu Black Max on a 7' med hev Rick Clunn from BPS and a Browning bait cast combo I just got from BPS. Both do me fine but I am just a week end warrior.

Old 7' TC rod with a ABU 2500 works for me for sandies. When I go for Hybrids I just use my Pro Angler Catfish rods with Salt Striker 65 series bait runner reels.
