Sorry to post another topic but............

I was trying to find a web site that has a bunch of flys on it with pics and step by step instructions on how to tie different flies. I used to go to a web site where they have recently cleared their system of all their flies there was hundreds of them and now only 20 exist on that web site.

All sites will be helpfull especially if they are focused on the fishing here in North Texas!!!!

Thanx All!!!!!!!!!

to get to the fly tying archive on FAOL, go to "fly tying" then "fly archive". other good sections would be beginning and intermediate sections. I basically educated myself with that site. Well, there and the large bearded master at San Antonio's Tackle Box.

I don't mean to sound at all condescending by suggesting the beginning section. I can tie basically anything, and some in that section frustrate me, especially Wulffs and Humpies.

For a massive archive with good pictures, umpqua.com is great. No instructions or recipes, but helpful for brain jogging.

others- www.westfly.com
www.flyshop.com

Can anyone order from umpqua or is it only for retailers and bulk orders?

John 5:24 Very truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

1Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

ccabal,
I think its only for retailers, etc., but www.sierratradingpost.com has a ton of umpqua flies for about $5/dozen. they come in the same boxes that gets shipped to fly shops.

The Orvis site (www.orvis.com) has many receipes available. Go the the Fly Fishing section and then to the Flies Section. They sell the flies but on many of them, there is the receipe as well.
