 Catfishing Boat???

Looking to upgrade from my current 12'er, I know there is no such thing as the perfect boat there is good and bad in all, and you need to get a boat that is good for most of the fishing you are going to do. I am just wanting to know some of the good and bad in differnet boats to help me find what i am looking for. What kind of boat do you have? what do you like/dislike about it? I am looking for a boat that can handle rough water, high sides (3 year old son), efficiently used space meaning i want to be able to use every inch on the boat(storage, livewell, rod holders, electronics) fuel efficient as well, other than that im pretty much open for any suggestions.

I have a 2009 Mako 1801 (not built any more, but 1901 and 2201 are) and I really like it. Good in rough water, runs in the mid 40s with the 115 Merc, which is fast enough for me. I have set it up nicely for catfishing and the only thing I would do different if I had it to do over again, get a bigger one. I can fish 2 real good, 3 ok, but more then 3 gets crowded fast.
So find a model you like, and buy the biggest you can afford with the biggest motor you can afford.
If I was fishing the rivers more, then I'd want an aluminum boat.

Love my Bluewave. Lot's of space. Super Fuel Efficient Suzuki Outboard. Been over 25 miles offshore in it. Can handle some rough water. Have had little kids in the boat with no problems. It's my perfect boat. Only Drawback to it is I'd like it to be about 10' longer.

If I could go back in time to '08 when I bought my 18' cc aluminum boat, I would re-think and get at least a 22', or even an 24' Blue Wave. I do intend to do that, but I've got to move the 18' cc aluminum boat first. I didn't give enough thought to storage space for stuff - rods, tackle, lifejackets, castnet, anchor(s), etc. I also didn't consider how tightly packed an 18' boat would be with Mrs. Philpot and all 3 of the offspring in the boat at the same time. Schooling sand bass, flying treble hooks, and an assortment of Philpots can get pretty sporty. Its fine when we're just dropping bait over the side, but packed nonetheless. Now eldest offspring decides she needs a boyfriend, and he likes fishin' too, so there we go - we need a bigger boat...

just looked at the bluewave web site ... that 250 Open looks ideal!!

dj,i just got a new boat today,i had a 175 tx tracker,if you want to stay cold and wet i recommend it...i just got a 19ft bay boat cause i fish the bay of lewisville.. dont buy a boat with a 2 stroke on it...you will make up the diff in price real fast..4stk is the only way to go...make sure you go for a test drive to make sure it's the boat you want

I love my boat.catfishing,crappie fishing,sandbassin,or just plane old fun with gar fishing you just cant beat it.hurricane 19.6 mel petty

You may want to consider a deep-v with a full windshield. Lots of room, lots of storage, high sides, fuel efficient and a VERY safe and dry ride. Doesn't take a lot of vehicle to pull them down the road either. I have a Tracker Targa 18 with a 90 hp Merc. 2 stroke and really like it. It will run 30-35 mph fully loaded and around 40 mph with a light load. Lund and G3 have some great models as well.

i like the looks of the lund alaskan 20 ... usta have a CC option, not listed now

I don't know what brand it is but I've been tryin to get the New Lady Game-Warden on Ray Bob to trade boats with me, those boats are some tanks, lots of room, high sides, I'd really like to have one of those!!!

i like the looks of the lund alaskan 20 ... usta have a CC option, not listed now I fished out of 20ft alaskan sc many times wide open boat handle ruff water now fish a 2010 polar kraft cc outlander 21ft long 8ft wide may sell if Meredith keeps going down
