Out at sun-up and off at 10:00 AM. Only two small bass this morning. Just as you guys have been saying, soft plastic in the grass was the ticket.

Where is the grass at Ray Roberts? Have fished out there quite a few times and haven't seen much if any. Not looking to steal a good spot, just curious.

I have a question for those of you who are fishing the grass. I have been fishing my soft plastic above the grass. Do any of you fish in the grass? If so, how deep do you go into the grass?

I've had recent success doing both but when i fish the top of the grass I am running a swim bait just under the surface...other wise I am throwing weighed plastics and letting them fall into any openings I can find.

How do you fish the deeper grass that you cannot see either because of murky water conditions or wind that distorts the surface enough that you cannot see the pockets?

Boatfisher, Use a TXrig in the grass 3/8oz weight with a creature bait and practice...you'll get the hang of it...Sometime you hop the bait other time a slow pull and shake it when the grass is too heavy to break it lose.

Like Ozzie said, it will take some time to get used to it, but it's easy...just throw blind cast to the deeper grass and let it fall, shake it a little then lift it up let it drop again and repeat....

Boatfisher, make sure you tie that rig on braid and hang on! Plus you can shake off the grass when you get bogged down. It works for me. Also work your bait out in the deeper grass until you dont feel grass anymore thats where they have been the past two trips. Good luck!

big fish arnt in that grass... or atleast not any fish that will get ya a check in a a tourney. They havnt been in there all summer. IF your looking for some donkeys you need to find some deep offshore structure and get to dragging.

Barrett is right that isn't what this guy appeared to be asking...he just wanted to catch some fish and you can definitely catch some numbers in the grass right now and occasionally you can find a 4-5# fish. We caught 2 that size in practice for the tourney Barrett won but just couldn't put it together on tourney day.
