What happens if you use too light of line for a given rod?

I recently purchased a Kistler Broom Stick which states the recommended line size being 25-50 lb test mono. Just curious if I'm using 20# fluoro if I should go ahead and make the jump to 25#? Only thing I hate about 25# is it feels like wire coming off the spool. Same question for braid, though I'd like to stay with fluoro. Thanks guys.

Nothing will happen! Ur fine.
You just don't want to use 65 pound braid with a spinning rod rated for 8-10lb

So it's okay to under power the rod per say, just not over power it. Gotcha. Thanks Cody and congrats again on the kid on the way.

20 lb would be fine. Just don't want to go way under what recommened like 10 or 12 lb or you'll risk breakin fish off.

I always use an improved clinch with fluoro and always wet the knot before I cinch it. Well today I was fishing a Big Bites knock off brush hog on a 5/0 hook with a 3/8 oz tungsten and I set the hook on a bass and snapped the line at the knot. Probably just a bad knot, but just wanted some reassurance. Thanks guys.

You can't slack line hook set with floro, 80% of my clients don't understand this but at end of the day, we get that bad habit broken, not their line!
