Great post Dave. You just implanted a memory in that kid's head that will last a lifetime. BTW, we were there Sat and it was good to see that part of the river bouncing back.

Nice trip Dave and bummer no stripers. My oldest is 9 and some day I hope to make it back with him to take that trip.

Yea, it is obviously marked where the restricted area is. Nice deep pool at the top their, marked several nice stripers last time we were up there but they weren't hungry.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Nice report and pics! I'ma make it out that way sometime soon. I have never been there or done any river fishing.
It's just hard to not go to Fork considering it is a little closer and I've been catching some good fish there the last couple of times I went there.
My dog's breath smells like cat food...

Fork is better for fishing but the Brazos wins in scenic beauty and refreshing cool water

Fork is better for fishing but the Brazos wins in scenic beauty and refreshing cool water X100 The cooler water was the kicker for me. Fork is ALWAYS at the top of my list, but the heat and warm water was the deal breaker.

He is a lucky boy to have you as a mentor. That is a wonderful stretch of the river and great photos.
