I had been looking for a chance to go fishing all summer. Finally got the chance after working all weekend I got off work at 7AM and went home and hooked on to the boat and headed for Roberts.Passed a huge traffic jam in the southbound lanes of 35W, 18 wheeler was on fire with the grass along the side of the road on fire also, fire trucks and police on the scene traffic backed up almost to Denton. Rolled across the dam at 9AM,looked down on the lake to see the water boiling and shad flying, 4 boats were all hooked into fish as I drove by. Pulled into the State Park and launched with white caps coming over the back of the boat as it came off the trailer(southwest wind of 15mph).Tied off the boat, parked the truck, ran back to the boat and headed for the west end of the dam, somehow what had been a feeding frenzy and a small boat show was all gone. I could see them all heading North toward the Marina. I searched the area but only caught a few 8 to 10", spent the rest of the morning stopping on brief surface action that would last less than a minute. Was limited due to the waves in the open water, found a large school near Cates Point but waves staring coming over the bow while standing on the trolling motor pedal. The fish off Cates were slightly larger but still not the usual Ray Bob size.Headed for the ramp when the temp hit a 100. Would recommend if you go,pick a calm day and get there early,or take a big center console to deal with the wind.
