I've found a low head dam on the Sabine. I haven't fished the area yet, but plan on going tomorrow. Should I target above or below the dam?

I would fish below if there is a current over the top ( not likely during this drought). If there is a flow there should be more oxygenated water below. If no flow, I think the deeper water above would be your best best. Would not hurt to try both.

Thanks Curt - I'll give both a shot I guess. There is water flowing over the top, which really surprised me too.

That place should have a lot of potential, especially if the flow causes the water to create some rapids with tumbling water. This time of year the hot water temps can't hold as much oxygen. Also, sometimes the water coming over the dam scours out a deeper hole where the water meets the river. Good Luck out there and post up some pictures of you catches.
