Line trick, I have did at least 6 of them on myself and wife and other people, and you don't even feel a thing if it is done right, done wrong and it will hurt just as bad as pushing it though.

The line trick. 2 weeks ago I had a hook stuck in the top of my head(my dad didn't know I was behind him). It was stuck in my head through my hat. I kinda modified it a little for the situation but got it out and continued to fish.

back in the mid ninetees I fished with Derwood Strickland(guide) at O.H. Ivie a few times and saw him do that line hook removal trick on a guy at the Concho Ramp, so it's not new but it does work. saved that guys fishing trip!

As a guide I used the line method many times in 20 years. It always worked but I would not attempt to use it if hook was close to an eye; in a joint; or around carotid artery.
Some people go to church and think about fishing. Some go fishing and think about God.

Yeah Im gonna go with the push through method. Couple weeks ago I was pitching a 1 oz Hack Attack in some trees, thought I felt a bite, one 4 G hookset later my partner had been attacked by the Hack. It stuck in his cheek all the way to the bend. I gave him his options: Hospital, push through, or yank out string trick. He chose push through and manned up. Alittle pressure and the hook popped right through. Worst part was not having side cutters butch enough to cut the hook.

I like the push through method better, but all in all it's going to smart!

You guys that do the man-up & push through method are hurting yourself or the other person way more than necessary. The old shoestring (heavy mono or braid will work) pop out method works so well that you don't even feel it come out. Pushing the hook on through is unnecessary torture, IMO. LOL

Buried a crappie jig in my thumb last fall, and tried to push it through. Hurt like H*** and decided that wasn't going to work. More power to those who can push it back through. I'm too much of a wuss to do that!
