I've got a Minn Kota 101# that came on my ZX 225.

At the end of our last trip to Falcon the trolling motor started going out sporadically on me. I've tried to duplicate the problem at home, but it always works with no glitches.

The problem showed up again yesterday during a local outing. It will work for a short period of time and then die. I've checked fuses, plugs for shorts, etc. and can't find anything.

Suggestions?

Do you have inline circuit breakers/overload switches? I had the same problem on my boat, and it was a bad circuit breaker. Could not duplicate it at home, it would only happen while in the water and had the resistance of the water.

Just a thought

Make sure all your battery connections are clean and tight.

I had this happen earlier this year and it turned out to be the armateur.

Next time it gives you trouble, spin the prop by hand. If it works, you have a armateuer issue

I'd say armature or circuit board going out.

Just got mine back from East Texas Sonar in Longview, it was doing the same thing.

Turns out one of the screws for the built in transducer had backed out from vibration and was allowing water to get into the motor.

Should I go ahead and pull it off and take it in? I've checked terminals and connections are they are good.

I would. If you gave had your skeg knocked over of center before that could be tge cause, it bends the two long screws that go thru the armature and into the nose price, allowing water to get in and cause havoc

Any idea on the cost of an armature?

not being a smart a-- but its not gonna fix its self, lots of the 08/09 models had armature problems, just reach down and whack the top on head with hand and foot on power and see if it starts running, mine would
