 Port Aransas surf fishing

How is the surf fishing at Port Aransas? We will be there 8/14 for 3 days and would like to get some reports. I will hit the piers and jetties to try them. Thanks for any help

A buddy of mine that is there weekly told me that they were catching lots of trout on free-lined live mullet in the guts and topwaters at dawn.

A buddy of mine that is there weekly told me that they were catching lots of trout on free-lined live mullet in the guts and topwaters at dawn. Good luck getting your bait to stay in the gut for longer than 5 seconds. It was ROUGH. Water looked good though. We caught a few trout in the surf, but we were getting beat up. Decided to hop in the boat and slayed oversized reds instead.
