I actually do both--have almost as many lh retrieve baitcasters as right handers. My reason is to spread out the physical action equally between both arms. I have serious arthritis in my shoulder joints, and this enables me to fish longer before the pain gets too severe.
I really enjoy right hand pitching with the left hand retrieve, btw.

Cast right, reel left...always have, due to growing up on spinning rigs...sometimes find really good deals on LH reels, too...

When I did tournament fish I considered the fact that I might miss a bite while casting with the right hand and then switching. So, to fix that trained myself (much younger then) to cast left handed and crank right. Been that way ever since. Prob. not not for eveyone but, worked out well for me.

Learned to cast with my right and reel with the left on spinning gear as a youth so I did the hand switch when I grew into baitcasters. Few years ago I went to left handed reels and it's been a big improvement. Now I utilize my Stronger arm for casting and turning heads on the donkeys. Flipping and pitching/stripping line seems to be faster and grinding seems to be less fatiguing.
Not switching hands definitely seems to give my lure more time in the water.
